JGD UK Presence At Limmud Conference – 28 Dec 2010

Jnetics will be involved in two exciting events at the Limmud Conference this year, both taking place on Tuesday 28th December at Warwick University.

Jnetics SESSION: ‘JEWISH GENES: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY’:

Our session on the subject of ‘Jewish Genes: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’ will be held at 14:00 to 15:10.

Knowledge about Jewish genetic disorders points to a common genetic origin that defines us physically, as well as religiously and culturally. “Jewish genes” may not make us look different or directly cause adverse effects to our health, but they can hold severe health risks for the next generation.

Please join us for this presentation and discussion which will explore our rights and responsibilities, as individuals and as a community, to learn about and prevent Jewish genetic disorders.

The session will be co-presented by:
Dr Adele Schneider (Director of the Victor Centre for Jewish Genetics, USA), together with members of our Scientific and Medical Advisory Committee
Dr Ian Ellis (Consultant Clinical Geneticist, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital), and
Sara Levene (Principal Genetic Counsellor, Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital).

Jnetics STAND AT ‘THE SHUK’:

We will also be hosting a stand which opens at 10:00 and runs throughout the day of Tues 28th Dec.

Please come and visit our stand where key people involved in Jnetics will be providing information and answering questions regarding Jewish genetic disorders and our charities activities in the UK.
